  3.     It was not the story of Nazi horrors or the one about the
  4. slaughter in Beirut that I found so disturbing. It was the
  5. article about the father who drove his car into the river to get
  6. rid of his "burdens" (NATION, Aug. 28). I can't shake the image
  7. of four children going under and perhaps screaming to their
  8. father for help, not knowing that he was the one who betrayed
  9. to the utmost their love and trust.
